VIRGINIA SAR COLOR GUARD
HISTORY - 2018


   From our State Society Annual Meeting in February 2018 to our Annual Meeting in February 2019 the Virginia SAR Color Guard covered 85 events with 75 guardsmen participating from 19 chapters. 22 Guardsmen participated in three or more national/district events and have a year qualifying for the Silver Color Guard or von Steuben Medals. Well done guardsmen!!

Parade officials recommend the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center (entrance on 14th Street near Constitution Avenue). The SAR unit's assembly site is on the east (or Capitol) side of 7th Street, N.W., on the National Mall, approximately 100 feet south of the intersection of Madison Drive and 7th Street, N.W.

Location: Randolph Macon Academy Front Royal, VA
Details: A Chapter Level Event - Col James Wood II Chapter. Plan musket volleys. Participants receive credit for Grave Marking Medal. 
Compatriots should enter through the North Gate on Kendrick Lane to the campus.  Proceed along the entry road to the traffic circle at RMA Jr. High School.  Cemetery is on the right side next to the crosswalk. This will be a joint effort with the RMA Color Guard.

Details: A District Level Event due to the attendance and declaration of the VPG (Counts toward SAR Silver Color Guard Medal).   There will be a Color Guard Workshop on Friday to talk about Color Guard Weapons and Weapons safety.  Chapter Flags are encouraged, but bring an indoor stand and a color guardsman to post it.
