VIRGINIA SAR COLOR GUARD
HISTORY - 2019

Picture
Update from 2019 Congress:
At the Color Guard Breakfast at the recent Congress only one issue was raised and voted on.  This was the approval of proposed Policy and Procedures.  Though it was not clear what was voted on, it will probably turn out to be the version of the Policy and Procedures published in the April Color Guardsman.  The motion was raised, the debate cut off, and the motion passed, with a significantly different membership than normally attends the Color Guard Committee meetings at Leadership Meetings.  Though some version of the Policy and Procedures was approved by the committee, it will not be implemented until review by the Legal and Insurance and Risk Management Committees.  A new subcommittee was formed to work with those two committees to make the Policy and Procedures conform to their requirements.  There will likely be changes resulting from this coordination that will be voted on at Fall Leadership.  Virginia is represented on this new subcommittee by Bill Schwetke.
