This is not a complete list of coming events, but a place for flyers and announcements on some future events. Please look on the Virginia SAR Wesite and/or the Color Guard Tab for a more complete list of events.
The George Washington Chapter, Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution, will be commemorating Constitution Day at 1:00 pm on Sunday, Sept. 16 at historic Pohick Episcopal Church, 9301 Richmond Highway, Lorton, VA. The Rev. Tom Costa will be portraying Rev. Lee Massey, the colonial rector of Pohick Church, which was the parish church of George Washington and George Mason and is the final resting place of 15 Patriots of the American Revolution. Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine brave men on September 17, 1787. The public is welcome to attend.
To all Virginia Sons of the American Revolution:
Please join us for patriotic fun at the Norfolk Tides-Durham Bulls AAA baseball game & fireworks on Saturday, August 25 at Harbor Park, Norfolk. Arrive by 6:30 pm.
We hope as many of the Virginia Color Guard can join us in uniform to participate in the opening flag ceremony--must assemble by 6:30 pm at the main gate to receive tickets and organize for the flag ceremony on the field. The Tides' John Rogerson will once again meet us and lead us onto the field.
I will stand at the main entrance to distribute tickets ($12.00 per box seat). We will sit in our group area and enjoy the opening ceremony and the game. We can stay for the fireworks show immediately after the game--last year it was a fantastic display.
This baseball game event is a great way we can publicize the SAR and our programs. We will again be featured on the electronic scoreboard during the game.
Norfolk Chapter, spouses, and friends will again be represented. This year, the members, spouses, family, and friends of the brand new Nansemond Indian Patriots SAR chapter will join us--it will be our first Norfolk/Nansemond joint activity after their June 24 chapter organizing meeting.
We need a good turnout by the Virginia Society and the Color Guard. See you Aug. 25 at Harbor Park!
