report by CJW II Past President Brett Osborn The Colonel James Wood II Chapter has been very active in support of Honor Flight-Top of Virginia Group, a program to honor veterans. The chapter has donated money to the effort and provided escorts for the veterans. A recent Honor Flight trip was very special as two CWJ II Chapter members were honored: Al White, a WWII veteran and Lew Ewing, a Korean War veteran. They went to Washington, DC, saw Arlington Cemetery, Tomb of Unknown, Iwo Jima Memorial, World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial and other sites.
CJW II Chapter Member Lew Ewing is the head of the Local Korean War Association. He helped coordinate a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknown with the South Korean Embassy. In turn the South Korean Embassy funded the second tour bus for the Honor Flight. Alpheus (Al) White was the CJW II Chapter's first President when it was founded ten years ago. Al is a World War II veteran. CJW II Chapter Member Dale Corey, CJW II Chapter 2nd Vice President, was the guardian for Al White and helped support the trip.
