report by Colonel William Grayson Chapter Vice President Barry Schwoerer On 24 May the Colonel William Grayson Chapter conducted a Flag Retirement Ceremony for the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run in Haymarket, VA. Compatriot Paul Chase in Continental Uniform presented Colors while commanding a Color Guard squad consisting of his Grandsons, Christopher and Gabriel Chase, and Chapter President Mike Taimi in Continental Sailor uniform. Chapter Vice President Barry Schwoerer acted as Master of Ceremonies in militia Uniform. President Mike Taimi read “I am Old Glory”. Compatriot Mark Almquist acted as Chaplain and Chapter Secretary Ken Morris observed. The ceremony integrated Boy Scout Troop 91 who had just completed a Court of Honor for awarding Aidan Tamke the rank of Eagle Scout. Eagle Scout Tamke was given the honor of carrying two retiring United States Flags to the disposal fire. During the ceremony bugler Sergeant Kari Brueton U.S. Army (Retired) played the National Anthem while the audience joined in singing. When the first part of the Flag was lowered into the disposal Fire, Sergeant Brueton rendered Taps.

It is the time when you are free from the responsibilities for which you have been making all the effort. I remember the time when I was about to get retirement and I was really excited about it.
