Virginia Society SAR President Bruce Meyer will be speaking at the June 11 dedication of a new memorial honoring Botetourt County founder and Revolutionary War Virginia Militia leader Col. It is located adjoining the Botetourt County administrative office building in the Botetourt Center at Greenfield just off U.S. 220 near Daleville. The ceremony, one of President Meyer’s Presidential Initiatives, will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 and all Virginia SAR compatriots are invited to participate.
In addition to President Meyer, speakers will include representatives of the county, the DAR, and a former chairman of the Virginia Tech history department, Dr. Daniel Thorp. Boy Scouts will raise the Betsy Ross flag, a barbershop quartet will sing the National Anthem, and the Virginia Society SAR color guard will present the colors.
