April 17th (Monday) Divers Grave Marking at Farmington Country Club
Compatriots, Please join the Farmington Preservation Foundation, the Jack Jouett Chapter Chapter/DAR, the Thomas Jefferson Chapter/SAR and the Peter Jefferson Society/C.A.R. as we mark the Patriot Graves of George and Martha Walker Divers, and their son, Thomas Jefferson Divers. They are buried near the 9th green. George Divers was Quartermaster for a Virginia Regiment during part of the War and his wife’s mother, Mrs. Walker, was instrumental in delaying Tarleton and his Dragoons from proceeding directly from the Walkers (Castle Hill in Keswick) up to capture Thomas Jefferson after Jack Jouett had ridden all night to warn Jefferson of Tarleton coming. We will have a Piper, Ladies in Colonial dress, a VASSAR Color Guard and a Musket Firing Salute. Shuttle service will be provided between the Club House and the Gravesite for those who need it. Afterwards, the Club is providing refreshments in the Thomas Jefferson Room, docents will give tours and there will be a Children's Exhibit and Program in the Pine Room. Ladies and Children are welcome. You won't want to miss it. See you there. Mackey Tilman, Chapter President Another Opportunity to Participate with Your Chapter
