The National Society, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) recognizes an individual, company, or government agency that flies the American Flag properly and for patriotic purposes. The American Legion Post # 245 is recognized for Exemplary Patriotism in display of The Flag of the United States of America. Frank Plichta, Commander receives the Certificate of Commendation from Rayburn Mitchell, Flag Chairman, for The Lt. David Cox Chapter, SAR. Appearing with Frank Plichta are, seated, Reverend Edward J. Pasley, Chaplin and left to right, standing are Steven M. Mikesell, Junior-Vice Commander, Sharon Plichta, Adjutant; and Keith Barker, Galax City Manager.
report by Brett Osborn, President Col James Wood II Chapter A Flag Certificate was presented, by the Col James Wood II Chapter in Winchester on Saturday, 19 November, to Mr. Don Adams. The Culpeper Minutemen Chapter presented the Virginia Community Bank, Culpeper Branch, with a flag certificate today. When the bank began a recent renovation compatriot Larry Alexander and his wife Beverly helped the local manager, Tripp Butler, with making the bank's flag display appropriate for 24 hour display of Old Glory. The bank is very proud of the result, and the Culpeper Minutemen are proud of how they honor our flag. The Bank President, A. Preston Moore, Jr., a resident of Louisa, VA, is being actively recruited by past Virginia SAR President Phil Williams, and the Culpeper Branch Vice President William T. "Tripp" Butler III, is being actively recruited by Larry Alexander. Both have solid lineages to patriots and should soon be our compatriots. report by Robert E. Halpern, Flag Chairman of the Richmond Chapter On Monday September 5th the Sons of the American Revolution, Richmond Chapter presented a Flag Award to the Queens Mill Recreation Association at their Labor Day Pool Picnic. For the pools proper display of the American Flag. Bill Gomez as President of the Queens Mill Association received the Award on their behalf from Richmond Chapter's Flag Committee Chairman Robert E. Halpern. Mr. Halpern noted, "that throughout the Summer day or night the Queens Mill pool's American Flag was properly displayed even lighted at night in the middle of the Queens Mill neighborhood, thus encouraging their neighbors to do the same
