27 SAR Compatriots marched in the Yorktown parade, led by, left to right in the front rank: National Color Guard Commander Dave Hoover, Virginia SAR President Reverdy Wright, and Virginia SAR Color Guard Commander Darrin Schmidt.

     October 19th is Yorktown Day, marked by celebrations of the victory at Yorktown in 1781 and the surrender of General Cornwallis and the British Army under his command.  The SAR was present in force, 32 members marched in the parade, 16 in uniform.

     Earlier in the morning a Wreath Laying Ceremony at the grave of Governor Thomas Nelson, Jr.Second Vice=President Mike Elston was the master of ceremonies and President General Tom Lawrence and Virginia SAR President Reverdy Wright addressed the gathering.  President General Lawrence presented the National Society Wreath, several state societies and many chapters presented wreaths, as well as other organizations such as the DAR and OFPA.
