On May 29, 2017, The Colonel William Grayson Chapter initiated and planned for presentation and retirement of Colors, presentation of a wreath and delivery of comments commemorating the 281st birthday of Patrick Henry at his tomb at Red Hill Plantation. A Virginian, Patrick Henry is remembered for his "Give me liberty, or give me death!" speech, and served as the first Governor of Virginia, from 1776 to 1779. The Patrick Henry National Memorial is located at 1250 Red Hill Road, Brookneal, Virginia. Colonel William Grayson Chapter was represented by Chapter Vice President, Barry Schwoerer.
Three members of the Elizabeth McIntosh Hammill Chapter of DAR also attended as well three staff members of the Patrick Henry Memorial, one Graduate American History Student from UVA, and three members of the public visiting the Memorial.
