On February 17, Pohick Episcopal Church and the Brotherhood of St. Andrew hosted its annual prayer service and breakfast honoring George Washington. The service used the same 17th Century Anglican order of morning prayer in use during Washington’s time (who was also a member of the vestry at Pohick). The Reverend Dr. Lynn Ronaldi led the service and gave the homily. George Washington compatriots Tom and Bill Bland served as ushers, and compatriot Doug Smith was one of the breakfast cooks.
After the service, the Brotherhood of St. Andrew served a hearty breakfast in the parish hall. This has been a tradition spanning 30 years. George Washington Compatriot Hank Foresman gave a speech, “Washington and the Establishment of the American Republic,” after the breakfast.
