Virginia compatriots celebrated our country and our national pastime at the Norfolk Tides-Durham Bulls AAA baseball game at Harbor Park, Norfolk, on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Chris Melhuish led a color guard for the opening flag ceremony when the 12,131 in attendance sang the National Anthem. The SAR group numbered 23 including President Sam Bass of the new Nansemond Indian Patriots Chapter, a total of 10 SAR members (7 from the sponsoring Norfolk Chapter), a prospective member, wives, and friends. All had a great time and the Tides won in the 10th inning. The after game fireworks were fantastic and the event provided good publicity for SAR.
