John Fitzhugh Millar delivered a presentation to Williamsburg Chapter Sons of the American Revolution on "Why were the French involved in the American Revolution". The answer in a nutshell, is that the French were broke from their Continental wars, and were trying to refill their coffers by capturing British possessions. Millar graduated from Harvard, and received an MA from William & Mary. He has written numerous historical books, and built copies of two Revolutionary ships, which led to the building of L’Hermione.
