Father George Flohr is well known in Wytheville as the Founding Father of St. John's Lutheran Church and Pastor from 1799–1826. This was all that was known until the discovery of the journal of Private George Daniel Flohr was made in 1970. The dedication ceremony will feature Robert A. Selig, a historical consultant who received his Ph.D. in history from the Universität Würzburg in Germany in 1988. He published a number of books on the American War of Independence and is a principal scholar of the journal of Private Flohr connecting to Father Flohr of St. John's Lutheran Church. The Virginia SAR Color Guard will provide a salute.
After the ceremony, about 12:30 PM, Dr. Selig will join us for lunch at Graze on Main located in the Bolling Wilson Hotel, 170 East Main Street, Wytheville, VA 24382. Lunch cost is $25.00 per person. RSVP for the event and lunch below.
The Lt. David Cox Chapter invites all to attend as we honor the service of George Flohr (SAR Patriot P-345060) during the American Revolution.
