Join the Richmond SAR in this 250th commemoration of Patrick Henry's Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death speech, which electrified the colonies and rallied American sentiments to strive for independence.

The day will start with an SAR grave marking honoring Lt. Col. Edward Carrington, who, as a boy, stood at the window of Historic St. John's Church to witness Patrick Henry's iconic speech and whose greatest desire was to be buried on the spot in which he heard it. He achieved his wish.

After the grave marking, the ceremony will move inside Historic St. John's for a reenactment of the famous speech.

Please be advised . . . It has come to our attention that the Church Hill Irish Festival will be taking place in the immediate vicinity of Historic St. John's Church at the time of our event and parking there will be severely limited.

It is strongly suggested to park in the free lot at 16th and E. Broad St. and take advantage of the shuttle service that will transport you eight blocks and drop you off at St. John's Church. The shuttle runs regularly throughout the day.

The location noted here is for the parking and shuttle area. Please plan accordingly for the 2 p.m. event start time at Historic St. John's Church.
