We are trilled to announce that joining us this year in the 2026 National Memorial Day Parade include:
  • National SAR President General Michael J. Elston, Esq. (GW Chapter Member)
  • Virginia SAR President Darrin Schmidt
  • National C.A.R. President William Elston (GW Chapter Member)
  • Virginia C.A.R. President Christopher Hopkins

Date: Monday, May 25, 2026 | NEW Start time: 10:00 am
Location: Washington, D.C. -- National Mall 

  • **NEW** Unit Element # 2-18A on 7th St SW at intersection of Jefferson Dr SW
    Look for other SAR members there and/or a sign along the curb showing the # 2-18A (see link to Map)

**NEW** Time: Parade participants must be in the Assembly Area between 8:15AM and 9:15AM.
**NEW** Registration: All participants who did NOT submit their completed and hand-signed Registration Form before the May 10th deadline MUST bring a completed and hand-signed Release Form (see link below) to the Parade and keep it with them.

Event Overview

The George Washington Chapter, Virginia SAR, is honored to serve as the official host for all SAR/DAR/C.A.R. members marching in the 2026 National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. Compatriots from across Virginia and every state society are warmly invited to join this nationally televised moment of remembrance and unity.

This parade stands as one of the nation’s most visible tributes to the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States. Marching together as the Sons of the American Revolution allows us to honor their sacrifice, uphold our mission, and represent our Patriot ancestors with dignity and pride.

Who Should Participate

  • SAR, DAR and C.A.R. members from all chapters and state societies

  • Color Guard members (in uniform)

  • Compatriots wishing to march in civilian attire (Sport coat with medals, or SAR polo is recommended)

  • Family members and guests are welcome to attend as spectators

What to Expect

  • A coordinated SAR marching unit led by the George Washington Chapter with National SAR President General, Virginia SAR President, National C.A.R. and Virginia C.A.R. Presidents in attendance!!!

  • Clear assembly instructions and staging information prior to the event (see map)

  • A meaningful opportunity to represent the SAR before a national audience

  • Fellowship with compatriots from across the country

Registration

All participants will be required to register and sign a Release Form from the sponsoring organization so we can coordinate staging, safety, and communication.

ALL participants must complete, sign, and submit a signed Release form.
