W. A. Broadus, Jr, 90, of California, MD, passed away peacefully Tuesday May 8th, 2025, at Solomons Nursing & Rehab center, in Solomons, MD.

The family will receive friends from 11-12 pm on Thursday May 22nd, 2025, at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA, 20110. All friends and guests will depart the funeral home at 12 noon to the National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico, where Mr. Broadus will be laid to rest next to his loving wife Juanita. 

Military Honors presented by the United States Air Force will be presented at that time.

Compatriot Broadus joined the SAR in August 1995 as a descendant of Private Archibald McHone (McHorn), who served with the Bedford County (Virginia) Militia in 1780 and 1781. He was a charter member of the Colonel William Grayson Chapter SAR, and subsequently served as its chapter President. He was an in-state dual member of the Colonel James Wood II and George Mason chapters. 

He served as Virginia SAR President 2014–2015. Under his leadership, Broadus was instrumental in the restoration of the Grayson Family Burial Plot and the unveiling of a monument honoring the service of Revolutionary War patriots and War of 1812 veterans interred at the Historic Dumfries Cemetery.

His SAR awards include the National Meritorious Service Medal (Gold), National Roger Sherman Commendation Medal (Gold), State Medal of Distinguished Service (Silver), State Meritorious Service Medal (Silver) and the Former State Society President Pin, and Former Chapter President Pin.
